A Positive Woman's Survival Kit (Portuguese version)
Producer(s): International Community of Women Living with HIV/AIDS (ICW)
This Portuguese translation of A Positive Woman's Survival Kit was funded by the CORE Initiative and has been adapted for use in lusophone countries in Southern Africa. Designed to support, inspire, and empower women living with HIV/AIDS, this toolkit helps women deal with a positive diagnosis and navigate the issues they face as HIV-positive women. The kit provides a number of fact sheets on issues such as relationships, pregnancy and motherhood, staying healthy, and communicating with children. It helps women address sensitive topics such as the possibility of dying by focusing on practical steps that can help women plan, prepare, and take control, rather than feeling helpless. Fact sheets discuss topics such as preparing a will, planning a funeral, and preparing memory books or boxes to help children and family members remember. The kit also contains fact sheets addressed at specific populations of women such as women in prison, sex workers, and young women. Produced by and for women living with HIV/AIDS the toolkit helps women feel like they are not alone as they confront ignorance, fear, indifference and hardship. The toolkit is also available in English and Spanish.
