HIV Positive African Religious Leaders Meet in Nairobi | (July 06, 2005) |
HIV Positive religious leaders from across Africa met in Nairobi, Kenya to decry the stigmatization of HIV Positive status. The African Network of Religious Leaders Living with or Personally Affected by AIDS (ANERELA+) coordinated the convention. The CORE Initiative was pleased to be able to support ANERELA+’s efforts by providing scholarships for attendees who may not otherwise have been able to go. The CORE Initiative worked with ANERELA+ in the past, funding a retreat in Kenya in January 2004 for 52 religious leaders living with or personally affected by HIV/AIDS, which resulted in the start-up of KANERELA+, the Kenyan chapter of ANERELA+.
