Abstract: This booklet was developed for the proficienty Badge for Immunisation Services for both Boy Scouts and Girl Guides in Uganda. It begins by explaining why immunization is important, how many lives it can save. Explains that immunization prevents measles, whooping cough, polio, diptheria, TB and tetatus. Gives some information on each disease: what causes it, how many people catch it, when children should be immunized against it. Includes a drawing of an infant which shows how and where each vaccine is administered. Encourages scouts to inform their families and friends about the importance of immunization. Shows a reproduction of the child health card. Explains that the 'cold chain' is a very important part of an immunization program. Vaccines must be kept at a certain temperature. Explains what scouts and guides can do in their own communities to help others learn about immunization.
