Project Description: The objective of this grant is to 1) Train members of associations on how to deal with stigma issues; 2) Train all members of association in weakness and strength identification skills; 3) Sensitize families of People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWA) to care for their people. Major activities include: Objective #1: 1) Advertise the project; 2) Organize/plan 5 training workshops in 10 cellule; 3) Visit all People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWA) associations once a month; 4) Invite members of PLWA associations to testify; 5) Study tour of 40 members of PLWA associations. Objective #2: 1) Plan training workshop; 2) Conduct training for different groups; 3) Conduct group discussions of 1000 people of 10 cellule of the district; 4) Sensitize PLWA association to develop small project and IGA to help themselves. Objective #3: 1) Visit families of PLWA 8 times; 2) Initiate 5 chicken keeping in each family of PLWA; 3) Organize gathering of PLWA and their families.

Project Name: Increase religious leaders knowledge in HIV / AIDS related stigma from April 2004 to March 2005 in Mudasomwa district

Project Description: The objectives of this grant are to 1) Conduct 6 training days on HIV/AIDS-related stigma for 100 religious leaders of Mudasomwa District in June 2004; 2) Sensitize 5000 Christians of Mudasomwa district to undergo Voluntary Counseling & Testing (VCT) and fight HIV/AIDS-related stigma from June 2004 to March 2005; 3) Initiate and train groups of Christians to care for People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWA) in Mudasomwa district. Major activities include: 1) Plan training workshop; Identify and prepare training venue; Identify trainers; Purchase training materials/stationery; Conduct training. 2) Compose song, poem and drama on HIV/AIDS-related stigma; Purchase musical instruments; Organize crusade; Organize demonstrations; Sensitize Christians to undergo VCT; PLWA giving testimony; Include as many PLWA as possible in our association. 3) Train 100 Christians in PLWA caring; Identify material needed for PLWA caring; Purchase needed materials; Assign in groups activities of PLWA caring; Visit PLWA; Initiate supportive activities.

Project Description: The objective of this grant is to conduct training in approaches to fighting against HIV/AIDS-related stigma for 200 people (local leaders, religious leaders, teachers) of Mudasomwa District from April 2004 to April 2005; also, to sensitize people of Nyamigina, Buhoro, and Kibilizi in Mudasomwa District on Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) and to provide support to those found HIV+ within 12 months. Major activities include: Objective #1: 1) Invite 5 trainers; 2) Invite 200 trainees; 3) Identify and prepare the training venue; 4) Purchase the materials to use during training: note books, pens, papers, marker pens, and microphone; 5) Conduct training. Objective #2: 1) Plan sensitization meeting in each sector; 2) Contact leader of each sector; 3) Identify and prepare the meeting venue; 4) Purchase the materials to use during training: note books, pens, papers, marker pens, and microphone; 5) Plan; 6) Help to develop small project of Income Generating Activities (IGA); 7) Help each other in cultivating activities; 8) Help each other in saving money and give small loan from the served money.

Project Description: The objective of this grant is to 1) Conduct training on HIV/AIDS transmission for 100 people of each cellule in the District; 2) Help people of the 5 cellule of Nyaruguru district to overcome the fear they have toward HIV/AIDS by caring for People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWA); 3) Sensitize 2000 people to actively support PLWA. Major activities include: 1) Discussing with local leaders in preparation for training workshops; 2) Planning, organizing and conducting 5 training workshops; 3) Having 2 people providing constant care for People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWA), especially in basic needs like bathing and washing clothes; 4) Providing material needed for the care of PLWA; 5) Organizing and conducting meetings once a month in each cellule to sensitize the community through PLWA and their caregivers' testimonies; 6) Sensitizing 2000 people to actively support PLWA.

Project Description: The objective of this grant is to 1) Conduct training in approaches to fight against HIV/AIDS-related stigma of 500 people of Nkumbure, Mujuga, Shaba, and Bwingugu in Mudasomwa District for a 3-month period from April 2004 to July 2004; 2) Sensitize people of Nkumbure, Mujuga, Shaba, and Bwingugu, starting with the members of our association, on Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) and provide support to those found HIV+, especially in coping with related stigma within 3 months from July to September 2005; 3) Initiate community activities which provide support to People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWA) in Nkumbure, Mujuga, Shaba, and Bwingugu cellule within 6 months from October 2004 to March 2005. Major activities include: Objective #1: 1) Invite 31 local leaders and religious counselors; 2) Conduct 4 training workshops on HIV/AIDS and related stigma; 3) Conceive and play 2 dramas. Objective #2: 1) Identify all existing associations in the named cellule; 2) Invite the identified associations for the HIV/AIDS sensitization workshop; 3) Conduct discussion sessions on stigma; 4) Sensitize people of the cellule to go for VCT; 5) Discuss with associations about Income Generating Activities (IGA) to help PLWA; 6) Monitor activities. Objective #3: 1) Cultivate for each other; 2) Visit each other; 3) Enable each other to have treatment.

Major activities include: Objective #1: 1) Identify skilled trainers; 2) Invite trainees; 3) Prepare the training program; 4) Identify and prepare the training venue; 5) Purchase the materials/stationery to use during training; 6) Conduct training; 7) Prepare meal; 8) Monitor the activities. Project Description: The objective of this grant is to 1) Conduct training in approaches to fighting against HIV/AIDS-related stigma for 1000 people of Ruheru, Rutiti, Musanzu, Gitita, and Gsanze cellule in Nshili District for a 3-month period from April 2004 to July 2004; 2) Help people who agreed to undergo Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) to have access to VCT services, including those found HIV+ in our association from July 2004 to September 2004; 3) Initiate selling activities of sorghum which will help support People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWA) of our association so that they are able to testify and afford basic needs. This is to be done from October 2004 to March 2005. Major activities include: Objective #1: 1) Train 32 members of Turengerubuzima association in HIV/AIDS-related stigma; 2) Sensitize members of Turengerubuzima association to go for Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT); 3) Train 200 local leaders in HIV/AIDS-related stigma; 4) Train 1000 people from the community; 5) People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWA) testimony. Objective #2: 1) Help at least 20 people from each cellule to reach VCT services; 2) Include at least 20 PLWA in our association; 3) Pay membership fee of the PLWA entering in our association. Objective #3: 1) Hire the house; 2) Purchase material to use; 3) Hire workers; 4) Buy and sell sorghum; 5) Monitor activities; 6) Train association committee in business.
